There are several legislative acts in Ukraine which permit the specification of the birth country as Ukraine instead of the Soviet Union or Ukrainian Soviet Socialistic Republic as stated in the originals of the documents presented by the citizens of Ukraine. 

According to the Rules of state registration of civil status acts in Ukraine adopted by the Order of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine #52/5 dated 18.10.2000, the geographical names in re-issued Certificates of state registration of civil statuses, are specified in accordance with the acting administrative-territorial structure on the day of issuance of the certificate, and in exceptional cases, if it is impossible - according to the old administrative-territorial system on the basis of which the document is issued.

It is hereby confirmed that in accordance with paragraph 4 of Article 115 of the Family Code of Ukraine the document certifying the fact of divorce as a result of a court order is in fact the court's decision on divorce which has entered into legal force.
