President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian side and President Poroshenko personally for all the efforts that allowed the transfer of the MH17 victims bodies to Kharkiv for further repatriation to the Netherlands. "At last, the victims’ relatives and friends will be able to take dignified leave of their loved ones. It is very important for our entire country, "- he said.
President Poroshenko in turn thanked Prime Minister Rutte for a strong position at today's meeting of EU Foreign Ministers in Brussels, whose final Resolution referred to the imposition of additional sanctions against Russia, including the preparation of proposals by July 24 to introduce access restrictions to capital markets, means of defense, dual-use goods, and sensitive technologies, including those in the energy sector.
Petro Poroshenko also noted the importance of the UN Resolution that was co-authored by the Netherlands. In this regard, Mark Rutte announced the plans of initiating, jointly with Australia and other countries whose citizens were among the victims of the MH17 flight, the sending of a civilian police mission under the UN auspices to Ukraine in order to secure the crash site and surrounding area so that the independent international investigation into the disaster causes could be conducted unhampered.
During the conversation the parties agreed to join their efforts to restore the economy of Ukrainian regions damaged by the actions of terrorists. In particular, Prime Minister Rutte assured President Poroshenko of the Netherlands’ willingness to become an active member of the Conference of Donors and Investors in Ukraine that will gather this autumn in Kyiv.
