The political consultations on bilateral and security issues between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands were held in Kyiv on September 28, 2010 at the level of directors of departments.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Acting Director General of the Third Territorial Directorate Andriy Melnyk. The delegation of the Dutch Foreign Ministry was represented by Director of the Southeast and Eastern Europe and Matra Programme Department Caspar Veldkamp and Director of the Security Policy Department Henk Swarttouw.
The agenda of the political consultations included a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the Netherlands in political, economic, military and technical spheres and in the sphere of European integration. The two sides also discussed international and regional developments, arms control and European security issues.
In the framework of the consultations the Dutch delegation also met with Deputy Minister Pavlo Klimkin. During the meeting special emphasis was paid to the discussion of the current state and prospects of the negotiations on Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, further development of EU Initiative “Eastern Partnership”, EU-Ukraine visa free regime dialogue.
