In the framework of the working visit to the United States, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.
The parties coordinated future actions in the context of consultative referendum on the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU that will be held in the Netherlands on April 6, 2016.
At the same time, Petro Poroshenko emphasized that the European integration of Ukraine was an irreversible process because Ukrainian citizens shared common history and values with the EU countries. One cannot hinder values’ spreading on which the EU is based.
The Head of State expects the EU to adopt a decision on the establishment of the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens already in the course of the Netherlands’ presidency in the EU Council.
The parties discussed bilateral cooperation in economic and investment spheres.
The Ukrainian President and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands coordinated future common actions on the investigation into the tragedy of the MH17 flight shot down by Russian militants in July 2014.
The parties discussed the issue of preserving the regime of sanctions against Russia, which is an efficient instrument aimed at ensuring full implementation of the Minsk agreements and restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
