Lesya Ukrainka's poems, translated into Frisian about 40 years ago, are attracting more and more new fans and remind us of the incredible history of friendship between Ukrainian and Frisian linguists and writers.
You can learn more about the story of the appearance of Frisian translations of Ukrainian poetry and the incredible love for Ukraine of the Dutchwoman Marieke Droogsma in the detailed publication of Ukrinform (in Ukrainian): https://bit.ly/3Bz37FV
Copies of the works kept in the Frisian Center for History and Literature Tresoar were transferred to Ukrainian museum institutions, in particular to the Novograd-Volynskyi Literary Memorial Museum of Lesya Ukrainka.
We are grateful to the Frisian Center for History and Literature Tresoar, Marieke Droogsma, Marina Snoek, John Stienen, Tata Pomuran, Diederik Kramers for their support in realizing the project.
