The author, Dutch journalist Remko Reiding dedicated many years to research the history of Het Ereveld – place in Leusden where 865 victims from former Soviet Union republics are buried. Thanks to his efforts many of them were identified and their families were founded. This research resulted in publishing Kind van het Ereveld – the book dedicated to unknown pages of Second World War history. The book tells the life story of V.Botenko from the Crimea whose son founded out only 60 years later that his father is buried in the Netherlands.
