On June 17, Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Mykhailo Fedorov, paid a working visit to the Netherlands, delivering significant results for Ukraine’s defense capabilities and technological cooperation.
During meetings with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Rob Jetten and Minister of defence of the Netherlands Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, discussions focused on advancing bilateral strategic defence cooperation, including expanding support for Ukraine’s Drone Line initiative.
A major milestone was reached with the signing of a new letter of intent on Ukrainian–Dutch defense innovation and industrial cooperation, creating a framework for joint development of next-generation defense technologies and strengthening long-term strategic cooperation.
The Netherlands announced:
- €250 million in additional funding to expand Ukraine’s drone capabilities;
- €250 million for the PURL mechanism, including procurement of the Patriot missiles and other critical air-defense systems.
Minister Fedorov also met with the members of the Dutch Parliament to express gratitude for their steadfast support, including crucial defense assistance and backing for Ukraine’s F-16 fleet. He presented Ukraine’s Air-Land-Economy Strategy, emphasizing that as Ukraine regains the initiative on the battlefield, the coming months offer a critical opportunity to increase pressure on Russia.
During the visit, Minister Fedorov also visited two organizations that are helping strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Together with the Dutch Minister of Defence, he toured the facilities of Destinus, which empowers Ukrainian defence and middle-strike capabilities. He also visited the TNO research center alongside State Secretary for Defence Derk Boswijk. TNO is already collaborating with Ukraine’s BRAVE1 Innovation Cluster on the development of next-generation unmanned systems, advanced sensors, and other critical defense technologies.
The Netherlands continues to demonstrate leadership in supporting Ukraine's defense, innovation, and long-term security.
