On 24 October 2024, the Third Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform took place in Riga, the capital of Latvia, bringing together over 70 delegations. The Netherlands was represented by Jesse Klaver, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Netherlands.
Participants at the summit discussed pressing issues related to the occupation of Crimea, human rights violations in the occupied territories, and the international response to Russia's actions. Key topics of the meeting included condemnation of Russian aggression, calls to recognize the 1944 deportation of the Crimean Tatar people as an act of genocide, and the coordination of further actions with the international community to restore Ukraine's territorial integrity.
Jesse Klaver noted in particular: "Let's not forget that Russia's war against Ukraine started in 2014 and started in the Crimea and international community looked away. For 10 long years Russia has been waging war on Ukrainian territory, for 10 long years Russia has been violating Ukraine's internationally recognized borders".
