Ukrainian parliamentary delegation headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine paid a working visit to the Netherlands

On 30 January-1 February 2024, Ukrainian parliamentary delegation headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko paid a working visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

During the visit, Ukrainian MPs held a number of meetings with the leadership of the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Netherlands, members of the Dutch delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Defence and the President of the International Criminal Court.

Particularly, the Ukrainian delegation met with the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate Mei Li Vos and the Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of the General States of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Roelien Kamminga.

In addition, the Ukrainian MPs met with members of the Dutch delegation to the NATO PA and members of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

The Ukrainian delegation also held a meeting at the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands with the Director General for Political Affairs and representatives of the Ukraine Task Force.

Within the framework of the visit the Ukrainian delegation met the President of the International Criminal Court, Piotr Hofmański.

During the above-mentioned negotiations and meetings, the representatives of the Dutch side reiterated unwavering support of the Netherlands for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, support for European integration and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine, and willingness to provide further assistance to Ukraine.

In addition to the above, the Netherlands actively joins the initiatives to bring Russia to international responsibility, in particular, taking over the leadership on the Point 7 "Restoration of Justice" of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Dutch side has also supported establishing the special tribunal on the crime of aggression committed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, with its possible residence in The Hague.
