On April 16, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, paid a visit to the Netherlands, during which he participated in the Four Freedoms Awards Ceremony and held bilateral meetings with His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Prime Minister Rob Jetten.
On behalf of the Ukrainian people, President Zelenskyy received the Four Freedoms Award for courage and resilience in the fight for freedom. The award was presented by Prime Minister Rob Jetten and Elisabeth Roosevelt, in the presence of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix.

In Middelburg, during his meeting with King Willem-Alexander, the President expressed his gratitude to His Majesty for his personal support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people throughout more than four years of resistance to Russia’s full-scale aggression.
President Zelenskyy also held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Rob Jetten. During their talks, they discussed security issues, support for and development of Ukraine’s energy sector, strengthening diplomatic cooperation, and ensuring accountability for Russia’s crime of aggression.
The parties signed a Joint Declaration launching the work on the Drone Deal and agreed on the co-production of drones. A bilateral agreement initiating this co-production was also signed in the presence of the President and the Prime Minister.
The President also met with Ukrainian servicemen training aboard the mine countermeasure vessel Zr. Ms. Makkum. He also bestowed Chief of Defence of the Netherlands Onno Eichelsheim with the Order of Merit, III class, and awarded seven Ukrainian servicemembers with medals “For Military Service to Ukraine” and “To the Defender of the Motherland”.
At the Uncle Beach in Vlissingen, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Rob Jetten honoured the memory of military personnel and civilians fallen during World War II.
